Skye Asta Devine Schirmer is a Brooklyn based painter and printmaker. Through painting she utilizes color, text, and personal anecdotes to navigate the crass intimate journey of relationships and womanhood in the digital age. She currently co-runs a shared studio space in Bedstuy with artist and friend Andrea Santos. Schirmer has participated in the Assets for Artists Residency at MASSMoCA in North Adams, MA, Chashama’s CHANorth residency in Pine Plains, NY, Trestle and Brooklyn Art Space’s studio residency program in Brooklyn, NY and Kala Art Institute’s artist in residence program in Berkeley, CA. She holds a BFA in printmaking from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and studied at London Metropolitan University. Schirmer has shown throughout New York, Boston, the San Francisco bay area, and North Carolina.
